Maybelle is talking. Like, you can talk to her. And she’ll talk back. Such as:

  • Hafafrap (this is the television, specifically Sesame Street or Yo Gabba Gabba. I have no idea where she got this word, I think she just made it up)
  • Food words: shabby (strawberry), bubbles (blueberries), toash (toast), chips, cake, cookie, coffee, milk, juice, cheese, yo-yo (yogurt), peezy (pizza)
  • Japanese-style endings. She has the tendency to add a vowel to the ends of consonant, like in Japan. bag-a, hug-a, pad-a (for the iPad).
  • Animal words: goats, cow, moose, kitty, horse
  • Two word phrases: see you, mama water, daddy phone
  • Steps, stroller, park, star, moon, house, slide, see-saw
  • Almost any letter of the alphabet (she loves those Moncure books)
  • Hi and bye
  • No, no, no
Walk around the neighborhood with no stroller. Played in mud with sticks, went in that spooky abandoned park behind a church, and saw baby geese on the Chicago river.

We all got sick as a family the other night, and we lived through that. So we are all still introducing solids back into our diets after living on pedialyte and Gatorade.
